With “Caan Dun,” Noise Cans brings a refreshing, authentic island vibe to electronic dance music. The phrase “caan dun” denotes the Jamaican slang for “can’t done,” or something that won’t end. Regarding the single’s background, Noise Cans said, "‘Caan Dun’ is a loving, feel good installment to my masquerade madness. What's being described throughout the song is a ‘wine,’ or dance, that never seems to end. "

Noise Cans pulls from Gombey culture as a main influence on his work. The Gombey is an iconic symbol of Bermuda’s past, a vibrant folklore song and dance tradition developed centuries ago by Bermuda’s slave population, brought to life through intricate costumes and masks. His mask is a colorful microcosm of that rich heritage, which he told mic.com is sorely lacking in the electronic dance music community.

While Masquerave is Noise Cans’ first EP on Dim Mak, it is not his first appearance. After an official remix of Kat DeLuna’s Trey Songz-assisted single “Bum Bum,” which Complex applauded for "crankin' up the energy with an infectious melody and pulse-pounding bass," he released his breakthrough December 2015 single “Bucka.” The dancehall / trap collaboration with Lady Bee proved to be a bona fide hit for the anonymous beatmaker, as it soared to #2 on Beatport’s Hip-Hop charts and garnered support from The Guardian, Billboard, and The FADER as well as DJ support from Steve Aoki, Henry Fong, Borgeous, and many others. Most recently, he dropped the soca-themed bomb “Do It Like Ah Pro” on Major Lazer member Jillionaire’s Brooklyn-based Feel Up Records, which debuted on Anna Lunoe’s “Hyperhouse” Beats1 Radio show and quickly got picked up by Ebro on his Beats 1 show.

Appearing on “Caan Dun” is 21-year-old songstress Louise Chantál, who relished the opportunity to work alongside Noise Cans: “I really enjoyed creating this record with Noise Cans because I believe together we were able to capture the power and warmth of a tradition that means so much historically and in the present day.”

The forward-thinking Chantál represents the cultures of London, Georgetown, Guyana, and New Jersey, fusing together her rich backstory to promote originality and feminism through her music. By the ripe age of 16 she had already created her own YouTube channel to showcase her self-made music videos, which collectively received over 300,000 views. Most recently, she released her album Welcome to Aranbi exclusively through her own entertainment company, Aranbi LLC. To date, the album has amassed over 1M streams on Soundcloud and YouTube combined - an impressive feat considering she released the record independently. Moreover, Louise Chantál’s artistic creativity spreads beyond music, as she has modeled for ELLE and Joyrich in addition to directing fashion editorials for Saint Heron, Galore, and Ladygunn Magazine.
