According to a recent press release: "BOOZE & GLORY completed recording their long awaited and highly anticipated new album Chapter IV. The album will be released worldwide with influential Swedish label Burning Heart Records.  The band can now confirm a March 2017 release.   Today the track listing has been revealed.  The album artwork, official release date and first single will be made available soon. The Orebro based label who also just signed Guida have a great pedigree that includes introducing the world to such as The Hives, Parkway Drive, Turbonegro, Refused, The (international) Noise Conspiracy and Millencolin among many others. While the label is rooted in Sweden, its talent is rapidly infiltrating various markets across the globe, including the U.S." We get vocalist guitarist Mark to answer our 10 Quick Ones...

1. Tell us a little about your latest release.  What might a fan or listener not grab the first or second time they listen through? Are there any hidden nuggets the band put in the material or that only diehard fans might find?

Our new album is called Chapter IV and has a sound that’s definitely a step forward for us. We spent a lot longer this time on the writing, recording and production. The Booze & Glory core sound is still there, but we’ve expanded on it with some different instrumentation - There’s Banjo, Mandolin, Accordion, Piano -and even a String Section! We’ve grown as writers, musicians and as people ourselves. As a result, the lyrics on this album may come across as quite straightforward on first listening but have quite a lot of depth to them. They’re all written from our own personal life experiences, so have a raw honesty that we hope people can relate to their own lives.

2. What got you into music, and can you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to be a musician?

Since I was a kid, I’ve looked up to the people making the music I liked - I heard The Exploited Punk’s Not Dead when I was about 14, then discovered Cock Sparrer. From then on, I knew that this is what I wanted to do.

3. Who would be your main five musical influences?

1. Classic Street Punk stuff like mentioned Cock Sparrer, Last Resort, Cockney Rejects, The Business etc.
2. US Punk such as Rancid, Dropkick Murphys, Social Distortion, Descendents
3. Jamaican Ska, Reggae and Rocksteady like Aitken, Derrick Morgan, Prince Buster and so on.
4. Hardcore like Terror, Madball, Agnostic Front, Cro-Mags
5. Northern Soul and Motown (impossible to name particular artists as there are so many!)

4. If you could call in any one collaborator to do a song with, who would it be?

It’d be really interesting if Mike Ness could sing the first verse, Colin McFaull doing the second verse, Lars Frederiksen doing choruses and Olga from Toy Dolls soloing all over it!

5. How would you describe your music to someone who’d never listened to you before?

Energetic, raw and honest.

6. What’s the best thing about being a musician?

Not having to have a “real Job”! We get to travel the world, meeting people, going to places we’d otherwise probably never get to see. We get to share stages with the bands we’ve liked since we were kids and we get to do what we love.

7. When the band are, all hanging out together, who cooks; who gets the drinks in; and who is first to crack out the acoustic guitars for a singalong?

Me or Frank do the cooking, Al’s always drinking something and Liam’s usually fiddling with a guitar somewhere!

8. If you weren’t a musician, what would be your dream job?

After spending many years in the office and warehouse, there’s no better job than being a musician! Being tied down to just one place day after day is my idea of Hell!

9. Looking back over your career, is there a single moment or situation you feel was a misstep or you would like to have a “do over”?

We’re happy with the live shows we’ve done, so no regrets there. As for recording, maybe if we could go back and have more time and money to record the first couple of albums... but, they are of a time and place, so they are what they are. They started us out on the road that we’re on now, so no regrets there either.

10. If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions for any one record in history, which would you choose – and what does that record mean to you?

Cock Sparrer - Shock Troops. It’s a record that I listened to frequently as a teenager and still return to it on a regular basis. There is a certain feeling of nostalgia when I listen to it now, as it’s the record that I used as reference when I was first learning to play guitar. Booze & Glory probably wouldn’t exist without our shared love of Cock Sparrer, so because of that, it was and still is pretty special to me.
