According to a recent press release: "As previously announced, Frontiers Music Srl are pleased to be releasing the follow up to the critically acclaimed self-titled debut from Inglorious, Inglorious II on May 12, 2017!" We get bassist Colin Parkinson from the band to answer our 10 Quick Ones about the upcoming release and more...
Inglorious II is a massive step up from the first album. We self produced it and worked on the actual guitar/bass/drum sounds a lot before recording. We have piano on a couple of tracks. Usually it’d be Hammond.
2. What got you into music, and can you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to be a musician?
My Dad gave me his short scale Jedson bass to play one day and it felt so right, it was amazing. I taught myself "Another One Bites The Dust" right there and then. I then disappeared to my room for a few years…
3. Who would be your main five musical influences?
Billy Sheehan - THE Rock bass main man, Jaco Pastorious - Phenomenal musician, Marcus Miller - A master groove maker/songwriter, Steve Vai - Composer/Genius, My Dad - without him I wouldn’t be playing.
4. If you could call in any one collaborator to do a song with, who would it be?
Tough one! Nuno Bettencourt… I love his solo stuff and bands that he’s written with. I like his attitude too.
5. How would you describe your music to someone who’d never listened to you before?
Classic rock, Big old school riffs and grooves with powerful choruses done with a modern edge.
6. What’s the best thing about being a musician?
Letting go and making people forget there troubles and letting go with you. It’s a great thing playing with a crowd as you feed off of each other.
7. When the band are all hanging out together, who cooks; who gets the drinks in; and who is first to crack out the acoustic guitars for a singalong?
Nathan is a superb cook, Me or Phil get the drinks and Adde starts on the Dire Straights everytime!
8. If you weren’t a musician, what would be your dream job?
Carpenter. I’ve always had an interest in different woods and working with it. My great grandads were carpenters too so maybe thats why as well.
Looking back over your career, is there a single moment or situation you feel was a misstep or you would like to have a “do over”?
Nope, Everything works out how it should.
10. If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions for any one record in history, which would you choose – and what does that record mean to you?
Michael Jackson - Off The Wall… What an album. Louis Johnson is awesome on it! I could state any Rock album but this album brings back good memories and Mr Jackson truly kicks ass on it before it all went Bad…Wahey!
