We get Vogg from the band to answer our 10 Quick Ones about the upcoming release and more...

1. Tell us a little about your latest release.  What might a fan or listener not grab the first or second time they listen through?  Are there any hidden nuggets the band put in the material or that only diehard fans might find?

It’s hard to say because I know this album so well. I was listen those songs 1000 times now so for me it’s all clear and nothing hidden. But for someone who will listen this album for the first time there will be tons of things to discover. Anticult is really complex album, every song is different and there is lots of surprising moments going on all the time. Decapitated fans will be not disappointed. I sure about it.

2. What got you into music, and can you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to be a musician?

My parents sent me to music school when I was 7 years old. I learned folk and classic music. I started to play piano and accordion in that school. Also I was taking lessons of history and theory of music. I don’t remember when I decided to be a musician - for me to be musician was something like natural thing. Like air. I only remember moment when I decided that I want to be guitar player for a band for end of my life. It was when I was 13 and I was watching video of Morbid Angel’s “Rapture.” After seeing Trey playing solo I knew that this is what I want to do for life. It was a magic.

3. Who would be your main five musical influences?

Hard question but ok: Dimebag, Dead can Dance, JSBach, Morbid Angel, Chopin

4. If you could call in any one collaborator to do a song with, who would it be?

Shakira - ;-)

5. How would you describe your music to someone who’d never listened to you before?

Extreme metal music-decapitated

6. What’s the best thing about being a musician?

Touring around the world and had one of the coolest job on the world.

7. When the band are all hanging out together, who cooks; who gets the drinks in; and who is first to crack out the acoustic guitars for a singalong?

We don’t hang out together. Spending time together during touring time is enough for us.

8. If you weren’t a musician, what would be your dream job?

I think it will need to be connected with traveling, maybe photographer for playboy or an astronaut  :)

9. Looking back over your career, is there a single moment or situation you feel was a misstep or you would like to have a “do over”?

It was a lot of hard times during all those 20 years of Decapitated. We had so many tours all over the world that some of those were very exhausting for us. In 2012 we had a plane crush that we were pretty sure that we will die, but just a miracle saved us that day. We crushed our tour bus in New Orleans in 2014 and Russia 2007 it was the biggest trauma of my life. We had a car accident and this day I lost my brother Witek. After this tragedy I was pretty sure I’m done with music, but after 3 years I came back with new members and new Decapitated album Carnival is Forever.

10. If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions for any one record in history, which would you choose – and what does that record mean to you?

I would choose session for Goldberg Variations by JSBach. Glen Gould on piano, recording session in 1981.This album is pure piece of art, and means a lot to me. I was listening this album for whole year in 2005 and it just simply change me as a musician in every way.
