Saint Motel’s major label debut album (digital and physical audio LP out now on Elektra Records), saintmotelevision, now available as a VR experience, sees the Los Angeles based quartet continue to push forward with visually immersive technology to create a mesmerizing sensory experience for fans.

The full VR album consists of Virtualizers for each song on the album.

The seamlessly rendered 360 graphics with traditional visualizers, lyric videos, and live footage create stunning visuals and vibrant experiences. The final 10-track collection will be launched as an interactive mobile app for iPhone and Android with exclusive content, and will also live on YouTube as a playlist.

The Virtualizers are not a replacement for traditional music videos - which the band will continue to make. Instead, they are a separate creative medium allowing for engagements between fans and artists within the virtual realm, all made possible by the proliferation of smartphones and expanding VR technology.

Today, Saint Motel’s A/J Jackson speaks with Billboard about how VR expands the dynamic between artists and fans via technology, and reveals Saint Motel’s fifth Virtualizer VR video for new single “Destroyer”

“That is one reason why it made sense to do the whole album in this style. Beyond the creative challenges, in making a VR component for every song on the album, it created a sense of standardization for a medium that is currently all over the place,” explains Jackson. “When we made our first Virtualizer we weren’t sure we’d ever make another, much less create a set of rules for future ones to follow. But the simplicity and continuity of mixing lyric videos, visualizers, live videos, 360 graphics, all from a set position, that eased our fans into the new medium.  After you experienced the first one, you had an idea of what to expect for the second one, and by the third one you were a Virtualizer expert!”

In a recent interview with The Associated Press, Jackson expanded on this topic: “It’s a lot of people’s first VR experience. You’ve got to take it slow and you’ve got to make sure everyone’s first experience is great.”

“Destroyer” is the fifth Virtualizer revealed from the forthcoming package. It follows the most recent one for “Sweet Talk”, which was revealed as part of YouTube’s star-studded SXSW programming. In addition, the band has also previously revealed Virtualizers for  "Move", "Born Again", "You Can Be You".

The remaining saintmotelevision album tracks will be rolled out leading into the free Mobile App release next month. Saint Motel has enlisted cutting edge innovators Wheelhouse Media to build the app.

Saint Motel is currently on tour with summer festival plays including Shaky Knees Music Festival, Governors Ball, Bottlerock Festival and more. Full list of tour dates here.
