The driving, blood, sweat and tears-fueled anthem burns with a longing for the unknown and a heightened sense of possibility. Singer-guitarist-songwriter Rob Clancy explained to antiMusic.com, "It's about the desire to move forward despite the constraints around you, to live for the moment without forgetting the past or ignoring the future. To live the life you've envisioned for yourself and the world around you. It ain't always easy, but nothing worth fighting for ever is."

"Staying Alive Ain't Easy" was one of a handful of songs Clancy performed with his acoustic guitar for Recorded Records when he and the label met for the first time at Cactus Studios. Once the song reached the final note, he recalls, everyone got up off their chairs.

Clancy and his bandmates would then sign with the label and venture out to Los Angeles, to begin recording with veteran producers David J. Holman (who also engineered/mixed) and Roger Paglia.

The exuberant track is representative of Cold Roses' knack for taking the rich musical heritage of their hometown - renowned for the "Philly soul" concoction of rock and roll, R&B, jazz, funk, pop   plus many other musical styles - and filtering these influences through a new sensibility, with generous doses of acoustic instrumentation, melodic hooks and forthright lyrics. While recording "Staying Alive Ain't Easy," the band's saxophone/trumpet combo was turned up a notch with the addition of a full horn section and string quartet.

Cold Roses will preview songs from Escape To Anywhere live at the Summer Kickoff Music Fest in Philadelphia, PA on June 3rd and the Firefly Music Festival in Dover, DE on June 16th. Even prior to signing with Recorded Records, the band enjoyed early local support from the legendary Philadelphia radio station WMMR, which named Cold Roses their Local Artist of the Month twice (a recognition achieved by few others). Soon stations across the U.S. were playing the band's self-released songs.
