INTERVIEW: BUGGY from ALARM FOR WAR - June 2017

June 20, 2017  •  Leave a Comment

According to a recent press release: "Sam AKA 'Buggy' is a young rocker that mixes rap with rock on a new energetic track." We get Buggy to answer our 9 Quick Ones about the new release, his influences, and more...

1. Tell us a little about your latest release.  What might a fan or listener not grab the first or second time they listen through?  Are there any hidden nuggets the band put in the material or that only diehard fans might find?

"Enemies of the State" is a hard-core rap metal track reaching out to those that have been subjected to everything and protected from nothing.

2. What got you into music, and can you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to be a musician?

I got pulled into it in a way. I was in the studio on a project with my parents and the singer of that project asked to have me do backups at 12 years old. I was flattered and a bit surprised. I have been going ever since then. :)

3. Who would be your main five musical influences?

Tony Harnell, Layne Staley, Sonny Sandoval, Ronnie James Dio, and Dave Mustaine

4. How would you describe your music to someone who’d never listened to you before?

Rap-Metal meets fusion on steroids.

5. What’s the best thing about being a musician?

You can reach people with your message through the power of music, which, I think, is the best part.

6. When the band are all hanging out together, who cooks; and who is first to crack out the acoustic guitars for a singalong?

Fast Food restaurants, Mom, KISA.

7. If you weren’t a musician, what would be your dream job?

Being a Navy Seal or a Police Officer.

8. Looking back over your career, is there a single moment or situation you feel was a misstep or you would like to have a “do over”?

Up and Coming. :-)

9. If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions for any one record in history, which would you choose – and what does that record mean to you?

Been to Sun Recording in Memphis, it would have been cool to see this all roll out to the present and to be apart of that era.
