According to a recent press release: "Bassist/Producer Scott Wilson, who, after over six years, and as the band’s second longest standing member, recently announced his departure from Tantric. Wilson, now bassist for SAVING ABEL, released the following statement regarding the situation surrounding his exit from the band." We get Scott to answer our 10 Quick Ones about new music, his influences, and more...

1. Tell us a little about your latest release.  What might a fan or listener not grab the first or second time they listen through?  Are there any hidden nuggets the band put in the material or that only diehard fans might find?

Saving Abel’s last release was Blood Stained Revolution however we are writing a new record now. That's how we started the whole transition from my exit of Tantric and jumping on board with the Abel boys. We were on tour together and we started writing together. Then a few months later we discussed the bass job for me.

2. What got you into music, and can you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to be a musician?

When I was about eight years old my father asked me if I wanted to go to a concert at our local high school football stadium. It was a band called Exile. They were from our town or at least some of the members were and they were giving a homecoming type of show. I watched the show and was enamored I saw thousands of people screaming for these guys on stage. We were asked if I would like to meet the band so of course we jumped at that opportunity. Everyone in that van took time to talk to me. I was standing on one of their buses and I remember looking around and saying to myself I want to do this.

3. Who would be your main five musical influences?

Sting, Dave Pomeroy, Tony Franklin, Jaco. As far as bass guys.

4. If you could call in any one collaborator to do a song with, who would it be?

I would love to collaborate with Dave Grohl I believe he is one of the most musical people of our generation. Not that anyone has everything figured out. But he has a pretty awesome formula.

5. How would you describe your music to someone who’d never listened to you before?

I think our singer Scotty Austin says it best . "We are an  American rock 'n' roll band" more or less a southern rock band with a twist.

6. What’s the best thing about being a musician?

I would have to say having the opportunity to touch peoples lives through music. Getting to talk to fans after the show and hear the stories of how particular songs affected their life. I also really enjoy when fans talk about the show being I get away from their normal life for a few hours. An  escape of sorts. We are very blessed to be able to meet so many great people out on the road.

7. When the band are all hanging out together, who cooks; who gets the drinks in; and who is first to crack out the acoustic guitars for a singalong?

I will say this about Saving Abel - whenever there's a moment or a day off we are camping cooking and writing. After every show we always sit down and have a jam session. We are a group of guys that love music. To answer your question more thoroughly we are all guilty of all the charges above. Haha

8. If you weren’t a musician, what would be your dream job?

I would be a pirate or a Viking I'm not real sure which one.

9. Looking back over your career, is there a single moment or situation you feel was a misstep or you would like to have a “do over”?

Musically not really. I absolutely haven't made all the right decisions however I don't regret much at all in my career.

10. If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions for any one record in history, which would you choose – and what does that record mean to you?

Oh man I would have to say any of the Beatles records. Those guys weren't afraid to go outside the box and think differently play differently and sound differently than their musical era. After saying that it makes me think of the Dewey Cox story. How they were recording the goat. Sorry I got sidetracked. haha
