The song was recorded and mixed at Blackwood Studios in Los Angeles, CA, where Daya worked closely with Gino Barletta, songwriter and the song’s executive producer. “Sit Still, Look Pretty” has already surpassed 7.5 million streams on Spotify.

Daya is currently nominated for Best New Artist at the 2016 Radio Disney Music Awards, featured on The Chainsmokers’ single “Don’t Let Me Down” (which has amassed more than 54 million streams on Spotify and already entered the Billboard Hot 100 Chart) and touring the country, including stops at The Studio at Webster Hall in New York City and a sold out date at The Club at Stage AE in her native Pittsburgh, PA. Yesterday, she was in Washington, DC to perform at the White House’s annual Easter Egg Roll. She is slated to follow up her self-titled debut EP with a full album this fall.

The classically-trained seventeen-year-old (full name: Grace Tandon) – signed to the super hot independent label Artbeatz Entertainment, owned by Steve Zap and Gino Barletta – is showing no signs of slowing down after Rolling Stone and InStyle hailed her one of the “10 New Artists You Need to Know” and one of the “6 Female Indie Artists You Should Be Listening to in 2016” in January and March, respectively.

Her worldwide hit and platinum-certified debut single from her EP, “Hide Away,” has garnered more than 110 million streams on Spotify, a radio audience of more than 50 million, and nearly 10 million views of its music video. “Hide Away” hit the Top 10 and Top 25 on Billboard’s Pop Songs and Hot 100 Charts, respectively. The song has also enjoyed critical praise, with Fuse calling it a “star-making single” and Billboard applauding it as “fun, frothy and full of personality” and one of “pop’s hidden treasures.” Daya has performed the song on The Today Show, The Late Late Show with James Corden and LIVE! with Kelly & Michael.

Daya was also named the Cycle 8 winner of Spotify’s “Emerge” program, which identifies breakout artists and has them compete against one another to see who can achieve the most streams and shares. Previous artists highlighted by the “Emerge” program include Sam Hunt, Bastille and G-Eazy. Daya has already hit the Top 20 on Spotify’s US Top 50 chart, the highest position for any independent artist on the chart.
