[Nashville, TN – August 16, 2016] Formally known as “Koa”, Nashville's most musically diverse band, Waker, announced their name change on a live Facebook session at the beginning of the week. From playing major festivals under Koa, such as Firefly Music Festival, Hangout Festival, and Austin City Limits to headlining shows at prominent venues including Webster Hall and The Bluebird Theater in Denver, the journey of Koa was nothing short of amazing. It was time to create a truly original name.

“One of the main reasons we all felt this name was so great was because of the word's intention,” explains vocalist Chase Bader. “It’s a call to action,” lead guitarist Conor Kelly adds in. “Waker works for us because it parallels our audience’s reaction at shows.” Anyone who has attended a Waker show would agree that it's impossible to stand still. As No Country For New Nashville blog puts it, "...the group blends elements of soul, rock & roll and funk into an eclectic, danceable sound, focusing on songs that keep people moving." Directly following their announcement, the band released a link to their exclusive Audiotree session filmed last month in Chicago, IL. In case you haven’t caught them live yet, the session is a taste of what the Waker experience is like with some conversation in between. You can watch and/or purchase it here. Make sure to link up with the band on social media to keep up to date.
